You could be fooled into thinking the hero is Atticus Finch when it is really Harper Lee. Thanks for this piece Henya -it expresses your philosophy perfectly. I always thought To Kill a Mockingbird [and Atticus Finch] was/were way out of time -sorry for being so obvious. But your points on prejudice helping to inhibit incoming info and guiding behaviour [like a form of laziness] is a takeaway for me.
