…cool monkeys

author: MS Paint

Juices flow from her rigid core
Golden, in a hundred degrees of heat
A quench complete. Controlled and cooled
A spiky crown — summer schooled
Did you evolve from Granny Smith
Were you the apple of her eye
Or did you emerge from the ocean’s depths
Or the Seven Seas of Rhye
The soup sea monkeys ride
When chimps all turned to men
Symbiotic in the brine
Primordial soup made of slime
Apples, oranges, cucumbers
Evolving all subgroups
Fluking evolution
A sweet and juicy shoot
Luck has it like the passionfruit
Passionately it bears
Slice and dice the product
Mother nature knows to share
Mangoes, bananas; the grapes of wrath
Tomatoes, Plato’s distant lake
Volcanic soil, the ring of fire
Boysenberries, pears and cherries
Not from scratch are these things cherished
For art has built on nature’s toil
How did the pineapple never spoil
And know what flavor to supply
Like clouds floating across the sky
The woman’s claim; the mouth too dry
A perfect taste evolved in haste
Accompanying man, his chosen mate
Always ready for the fall
