You bring up a good point Sylvia -- wonderful article by the way -- but these nutty rightists are reacting against militant left propagandists and never the twain shall meet -- people also despise the political correctness/thought police attitude of leftists -- the majority of people know what's right, and it lies somewhere in the middle. It seems to many that if the other side get their way, they will all but wipe the other side out -- that's a bad place to start negotiations from! There's also the "China Syndrome" -- creeping authoritarianism, and as many racists on the left, more so, than the right - ironically!
