What’s in the Stars
…candy floss
What befalls the looking glass today
Is it our final decay
Another heads-up
For some decades to come
Will be still fighting wars
Still refusing to live
What’s in the stars above
Are they promising love
Are they made of candy floss
Can they be breached in a toss
Who is our God for the week
The last one became tentative, meek
Whoever he was
A purveyor of peace
Yet, hatred was not in his script
Will he fight our wars for us
Our capacity for such is thus
We can never lie down
Can’t leave it alone
Our obstinacy is stronger than defeat
Fear of the unknown our fate
The slide into the abyss cannot wait
Should we risk victory
Or detriment …or history
Cherished glory is our greatest feat
While love still remains in the stars
The light-years decidedly vast
The measure will be
More than the eye could ever see
But for now, we can preach peace
And common sense …sweet as a peach
Pipe dreams to believe in
Questions relieve sins
We always need a problem to solve
But can we still be bold
Have we found love
In the fulfillment of hate
Will the robots be fair in defeat
