What surprises me is how dominant the males are -- the birds who visit me and feed are totally submissive to the males -- although the male is more frightened of me -- seems the male is into a different variety of survival - the females will eat from my hand - not the male ! But when the male enters the fray, she panics, even though long term partners! But she is an excellent mother, he's not a bad father either ! But their survival, male v female, "ideas" are nuanced!
