halleluiah

author: MS Paint

If I creep along the sordid byways
Whittle away the hours of my daze
Seek my payday from the old school play
Keep a say in the devil’s decay
Will I still be worthy of my own contempt
Worthy of a temptress down momma’s dark basement
Sacrifice my blessed sacrificial oath
Stumble and fall by the carnage all
Learn to walk before I can crawl
Shout halleluiah by the subway stall
Can I go on without a new song
Lurch head first unto a new church
Sing right along without a new fling
Flame and shame a new regime
Jump in for a share of a claim to fame
Reclaim the old rules to a brand-new game
Or forfeit those offerings — just more of the same
If I creep along the sordid byways
Whittle away the hours of my daze
Seek my payday from the old school play
Keep a say in the devil’s decay
Stumble and fall by the carnage all
Learn to walk before I can crawl
Shout halleluiah by the subway stall
Bury my dead without an encore
