Cherub, charcoal on paper: author

Angel, my sweet angel, where does thy stray
Amidst thy sweet flowers, or in danger’s way
On the borders, marauders, vexed, new world orders
In war whisper so softly and I can fight yet another day

Stay by me, my ventures, on the fields or in the trenches
In the streets or on the beaches shine your sweet light
Reinvent me, always tempt me, tell me that God sent me
To move forward, seal our plight, follow your sweet gaze

Soliloquies, do not appease, on the land or seven seas
On last stands, at first glance, or when an enemy flees
Tempt us for evermore in the shallows of our shores
Immerse us in healing waters, baptized in a higher cause

As stars fall from the heavens, if and when disaster beckons
In the minutes and the seconds, when all is in flux
Answer my questions, be bold in your suggestions
On a path wrongly stumbled and a stage never played

Sweet Angel look towards me, please always forewarn me
Adorn thee, I implore thee, take up thy sword
Angel of peace and war, solace, and evermore
Don’t sleep, hold your guard, and save us once more
