…a hollow fable

author: MS Paint — Chinatown wailing wall, NYC

I might have drowned in the dark days of winter
In the frozen tears of dreams I sent her
But unanswered — thus, a hollow fable
I trudged unrewarded, feckless — a failure
A shadow of shame in a greying meadow
Once shining gold, faded yellow
Insisted my demands on an innocent God
Sins deemed unworthy, ‘ready undergone
I bathed in the sacred waters
Born again to hope, rejecting disorder
But my contract was breached at a wailing wall
In the screams of a winter come nobody saw
Slayed by demons in Shangrila
Slaughtered at the border of Azerbaijan
The laws of the ancients, the clash of the new
Words put in motion, they’re coming for you
Spilt on the gravestones
But better understood by the innocent few
Because it’s cold and dark in light of the view
Love is a storm and all it ensues
Across weary lands of dust and sand
Stolen temples stand on ancient land
The sins of our fathers
Our mothers greatest fall
The brothers who would haunt us
Sisters once adored
There is no peace in the lawlessness of love
Stealth protects all by the velvet glove
