The Dark Streets She has Seized

poetry

Author: MS Paint

From hotels of memories
And motels of dreams
To water pond lilies
On water pond schemes
Surfaces flat as a Giverny Monet
You can always meet there
In peace and tranquility
The flat ponds around midnight
Where the sullied moon shines
Never sitting quite right
Takes its chance in the sky
Be swept from your feet
With wild entreat
Where the angels duly perish
Come a new dawn
Reborn, come hither
To weather the storm
Where silence is golden
And fate is reformed
Where deals can be brokered
And guns not be drawn
Beyond the gates of the park
They won’t open ’til dawn
To the streets downtown
Where to Kings Cross you roam
A princess’s throne,
A hideout and home
Where rebels walk fast
And Police get first laugh
Of the day, they’re prepared
They’ve all been well briefed
They take on all comers
And give no relief
But to the highest bidder
For that they must stray
To the sleaze and the dirt
On the fringe of decay
But a princess is now queen:
Willing to count all the reasons
To bring them all down
The dark streets she has seized on
