lessons have been learned
Do I care for love
Or do I care for war
Should one beg to differ
In two thousand twenty-four
Like another flake
Some fake to implore
Bent on rustic reasoning
Mealy mouthed in retort
Should I even care
Should I go in black to mourn
Don’t I wine and dine
Get up before dawn
Tell the occasional truth
Disparage the uncouth
Have all the information
At the fingertip of my mind
Should I bite my tongue
Have every opera sung
Go dance tippy-toe
Through the needle’s eye;
On the head of a pin
Watch a thousand angels sin
A thousand years condense
When it’s running thin
My ideas are weaponized
Heads up and hands free
Ready locked and loaded
A holy reckless spree
Each and every day
As the mice come out to play
Big brother watches on
Ensures they get their way
By the cat and the cradle
All is just; fact enabled
Truth is easily subverted
When there’s Cain and Abel
Never to opine
Or concoct the lie big time
…they could be fined
They all plead not guilty
They would never revolt
When judgement comes a reckoning
They keep that in the vault
Information suddenly lessens
The lesson has been learned
A lesson for the mice at play
And for that they will be spurned
