No! to be honest Anna -- I am not a survival of the fittest, Darwinian, believer -- even Darwin thought his own theory tenuous -- there is no fossil record revealing slow ongoing change and species splitting off -- and rather ironically many of the pre modern human specimens are likely modern, such as Neanderthals -- the Leakey family found much of them in Africa and were determined to find fossils on the outset, and did! Very convenient! -- I believe there is a call for change in some quarters! ¯\_( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)_/¯
