my baby loves love

Am I not the harbinger of pain
Lest I relax in a moment’s gain
Do I need shed truth to get blame
Prove my calling when you’re falling
Sing in tune, make you swoon
How many jobs my interplay
Do I leave it up to a rainy day
I wonder if I say
Nay, I admonish your thrall
Avert capture but not recall
Just to lay in your arms
Allay your sweet charms
Tease out your candy dreams
Pretend less than it seems
Put you above it all
Do it to detriment’s fall
Cast out my demons
Court you in season
Make your knees weaken
Enchant you at day’s end
To the frivolous, attend
Such pity on halcyon days
How can dismay be displayed
When I’m lying on the floor
Will you come back for more
Take flight when I reason
Seek refuge like treason
Have I not always been there
Like an act off Times Square
My copyrighted mind
The fortress of our time
And the lines on my face
But a frieze lost in space
