Generation X surely has Generation X, which included Billy Idol and just may be where the term originated. I think the band were actually rebadging themselves, rejecting being Boomers, and have since been called Jonesers (the late boomer sub-group who missed the summer of love) and of whom Idol and co belonged, becoming the punk generation.
