Being poetry, Lord Byron, it is highly rhetorical -- a rhetorical question -- Are Whores chaste? No, they are a waste in lace ! -- 'lace' being a metaphor for morality [here]. But I know it's observable -- the word 'whore' I agree -- It is a perjorative term - but the poem come to fruition from a series of rhyming words, of which 'whore' was one - I was going to write a one-word-per-line poem but it evolved. Prostitute is not really poem material and Ho - well, same thing ! I don't like calling any woman a whore -- but a work description must be found. I tried to use all rhyming words [apart from the key word 'whore'] only once but I did use 'waste' twice and another as well - I forget which at the moment ! Of course there are several homophones !
