a poem
Upon the vestiges of a once sunken lake
A seascape draped in fate
Shakes, breaks
The islet creates, Atlantis awaits
Gods retreat and mortal power inflates
Hollow virtues once fueled by excess
Come full circle to arrive at the paradox
And soon parted by the sea, mentality in siege
Along with prestige, they leave
A sunny morn reborn extreme
Sinks like a shallow dream
Its parables lost in the dust of fallen civilizations
Empires once mighty — before their time
Alas, the climb from the slime is steep
Beasts no longer hunger but aimlessly wander
Multitudes retreat
The piper wants his fees, but flees
No exemptions given, excuse the truth no longer
The paradox
Delay the day, await a happier one to come
Where the lion lies with the lamb
And the kingdom is at hand
Where choirs sing songs of hope
And poets deploy wise tropes
Among lessons learned
That’s when Atlantis is returned
When the new day’s begun
When the paradox is overcome!
