…shell of insistence
and reflects 
every hue
of you 
and in everything 
you see as new — 
but you’re still
frantically scribbling 
hazardous notes 
from all ages
with your face shackled
so all you can see 
is your terror 
meeting the darkness
of doom
because you’re staring
at the rain 
like it’s as contagious
as your pain
